It's been so long since I visited my own blog, too many things to handle and too little time. I can't even afford to get sick...really I just take Advil and go on... I guess everyone does it....well I finally got a chance to sit down and visit my blog to make an entry..
I made a T-shirt dress for my dear daughter a few weeks back and thought of making a tutorial, apparently I just realized that I don't have enough photos to make a photo tutorial, but will try to explain it as detail as possible...with less photos :)
Here it goes:
My daughter has a pink T-shirt which still fits but was short lengthwise and was really in a good condition. So I used it for the bodice. A long time ago I got the paisley patterned fabric from Joann to make a summer dress for her but did not get a chance to make it instead it ended up for her T-shirt dress.
Step 1: To make a T-shirt dress first find a t shirt that fits your kid, I marked 1 1/2 inches on both sides from the bottom of the sleeve.
Step 2: I folded the t shirt according to the markings and then cut it across.

Step 3: Measure the length, and cut the fabric accordingly. Since my daughter wanted her dress to be a
" Princess" dress , there was not much cutting involved .
I just folded it twice on the bottom about 1/4th inch and hemmed it.For the top part I did the same thing folded twice about 1/4th inch and sewed it.
Step 4: Next I pleated the fabric and pinned them to the T-shirt and stitched them together. Once it was done she wanted a ribbon instead of a sash and a nice rose. I used a spare white satin ribbon which turned out to be perfect for the project and I made rose from left over T-shirt fabric. It turned out better than I expected, My daughter loves it so much that she twirls and dances in it.
So there you have it..you will find a lot of tutorials regarding T-shirt dress on web but everyone has their own style in sewing them. If you are new to sewing this is a very easy project to start with, you can make T-shirt dress for adults too..it's that easy.
Enjoy and thanks .
